We recently sent the grandson of one of our members to RYLA camp. Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) is an intensive leadership experience organized by Rotary clubs and districts where you develop your skills as a leader while having fun and making connections.
MUNA inspires global citizenship, consensus-building and negotiation skills for high school students. We have sent the granddaughter of one of our members, thereby investing in our future, the youth of today.
Their mission is to provide a venue for young players to foster both their athletic skill as well as enhance their community spirit. Their goal is to provide a quality affordable program for competitive hockey players who are continuing their education or beginning their careers. We have provided $1,000 scholarships in past years.
There was a dire need and scarcity of potable drinking water for the rural community dwellers and water toilet facilities for the school children in the community at Nnokwa, Idemili L.G.A in Anambra State, South East Nigeria, which gave rise to various waterborne illnesses.
Our club recently agreed to help out refugees in Ukraine who are fleeing to Poland by donating to ShelterBox Canada, which is part of Rotary International.
ANCOP is an acronym for “Answering the Cry Of the Poor”. ANCOP International Canada, Inc. is a duly registered Canadian charity / non-profit organization dedicated to restoring dignity and uplifting the lives of poor children and families around the world. It is an international humanitarian organization with global ground operations in various countries in Africa and Asia.
We participated together with Rotary International in raising funds for fighting polio. We are still fighting Polio in Afghanistan and Pakistan. To date there are 34 cases (as of September 1, 2024).
