The History:
Transcona Rotary club was approached by councilor Russ Wyatt of the City of WInnipeg to develop the area formally home of the Pirates #2 community centre. The club accepted the challenge and decided to recognize Rotary International's 100th anniversary by developing a park. In conjunction with the community, funds were raised. All contributors are recognized at the park entrance. Local businesses were involved and are recognized in standing signage depicting the 100 year history of Rotary.
Transacona Rotary organized all of the fundraising through grants and community donations. We truly appreciate all of our contributors and thank you for maintaining Transcona as a park city.
We were honoured to have the park opened by the President Elect of Rotary International in 2010.
